Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-coloured porcelain shells carefully crafted to cover the front surfaces of teeth and to improve the appearance of discoloured, chipped or broken teeth. The tooth is prepared by trimming the enamel from the front surface of the tooth.
Veneers can be made from porcelain or from resin composite materials. Porcelain veneers resist stains well and can help to strengthen the tooth. Resin veneers are thinner and require less of the tooth surface to be removed before placement of the veneer.
Veneers can be attached to the tooth quickly and painlessly. They are excellent for treating chipped, discoloured, slightly misaligned or misshapen teeth or gaps between the teeth.
